![]() I raised this as a support case with Norton, who needed to take remote control of the PC - which involved switching off Scam Protection on my ISPs site. This meant that Norton couldn't even start any sort of scan. ![]() What was more I couldn't shut down Norton because it thought that it was still scanning a file!Įventually, after Task Manager had failed to kill off the process, I resorted to turning off the power at the plug and then switching back on the PC and restarting Norton. Since it was late at night, I set the scan to close down the PC when it was done & went to bed having turned off the monitor, but in the morning the scan still had not completed - some 8 hours later! A few days ago, I had a bright idea - 'I'll have Norton do a full scan on my Windows PC.' I started full scan on my computer and after at least 4 hours of scanning & after it had checked over 2,000,000 files it found no threats, but had 1 left to do.
